Sattu Bati or Litti




Today I am sharing the recipe of Sattu Batti or Litti, It is a famous dish of Bihar and it is a completely different dish in terms of taste, texture and preparation. It may be eaten with baigan bharta, alu bharta, papad or any kind of chutney. Do try this traditional dish from Bihar if you are in a mood to have something different from your regular food.

Ingredients:

1 cup sattu powder
2 cup wheat flour
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon dry mango powder
2 table lemon juice
1 chopped onion
2 tablespoon mustard oil
1 tablespoon chopped ginger, garlic and green chili
2 tablespoon chopped coriander leaves
1/2 teaspoon ajwain
1/2 black cumin seeds
1 tablespoon pickle masala
Directions:
1.       Preparation of Sattu Mixture

 In a wide bowl, add sattu power, salt, mustard oil, dry mango powder, lemon juice, ginger, garlic, chopped onion, green chilies, coriander leaves, carom seeds, black cumin seeds, needed water (4  to 5 spoons)  and mix it properly

2.       Preparation of Bati

v  In a wide bowl, add 2 cup of wheat flour, salt, oil, needed water and prepare soft, smooth, pliable dough. Grease your hands with oil and knead the dough well. Cover and keep it aside

3.       Preparation of stuffing for method

v  Dust a little flour and roll out the dough into a small circle
v  Keep a tbsp of stuffing in the center, gather all the corners and seal the dough with the stuffing inside. Press it down gently to flatten it


 Take big size of cooking bowl or 3 liter cooker for boiling of stuff  bati


  Fill water in the cooking bowl or cooker and boil the water properly

  Keep one by one sattu bati in the boiling water and boil them for 5-7 minutes

  Once sattu bati is boiled properly remove it from boiled water very slowly

  Keep it aside to cool down

  Heat oil in the again big size of pan for deep fry of boiled sattu bati

  Once your sattu bati is fried properly remove it from the pan


  Now serve your sattu bati with brinjal or tomato bhaji,  chutney or pickles
