Aam ki Sonth

Keeping with the theme of this week I bring one more very interesting recipe of Mango – Aam Ki Sonth. This sonth is sweet and salty in taste and is a perfect side dish to make your lunch or dinner more interesting.  It is very easy to make and when the season of mango is over you can substitute mango with banana, it tastes equally good with either of the fruits.

Ingredients:

1/2 kg Mango
1 cup water
1 cup sugar
1/2 teaspoon black salt
1 teaspoon cumin powder
1/2 teaspoon black powder
1 tablespoon lemon juice
1/2 teaspoon cumin seeds

Directions:

1.       Take a pan and boil water and sugar in it
2.       Keep boiling it till a thinner consistency is reached (this will be single thread syrup)
3.       Once the desired consistency is reached take it off the flame and let it cool down
4.       After that add black salt, cumin powder, black pepper and mix it properly and keep it aside for 10 minutes
5.       After that add chopped pieces of mangoes and mix
6.       Then squeeze one lemon on it and garnish with cumin seed
7.       Now serve this Aam Ki Sonth with any Indian dish
