Batata Vada is a popular Maharashtrian food, which goes very well as snack or light breakfast. One interesting fact is "Batata" is actually a Portuguese word meaning potato. Apparently Potatoes were introduced in India by Portuguese and hence this name. Made from boiled and mashed potatoes and deep fried and usually served with green coriander chutney.
