Beal/Wood Apple is not so popular fruit, but quite refreshing especially during summer season. It is popular in eastern parts of India - UP and Bihar, Jharkhand, Orissa and even Bangladesh. You may heard of Bael in the context of Shivratri, where Bael leaves are used to worship. The fruit has a very hard outside covering while the pulp is very soft and slightly sour in taste. Its sherbat or panna is know to have even medicinal values and extremely helpful in preventing heat stroke during peak summer.
Ingredients:
1 Beal or Wood Apple
1 small bowl Sugar
1 teaspoon lemon juice
2 glass water
2-4 Ice Cubes
1.Prepare sugar syrup – Mix 1 cup water and 1 bowl Sugar properly. Mix properly so that sugar will melt in the water.
2.Now remove pulp from the wood apple. To do this – you would need to break the outer shell of the wood apple and with a spoon sccop out the pulp from inside.
3.Keep the pulp in a hand mixture grinder jar-add sugar syrup and mix properly with a hand blender.
4.Now keep this mixture in a mid sized bowl add normal water or cold water and lemon juice. Mix with spoon.
5. Now put in to the glass add ice cube and serve cold.
