Lemon Chicken


We all have heard of Lemon Chicken, but rarely do we know an interesting fact about it. and that is -, Lemon Chicken is cooked in many countries of the world - each with its own style and taste. Italian style of Lemon Chicken - a whole chicken is cooked in white wine and fresh lemon juice, the Australian version involves coating the chicken in batter, frying it, and then covering with a lemon sauce, the French version is similar to Italian but with rosemary and pine nuts. The Chinese/HongKong variety of Lemon Chicken is cooked with the chicken pieces coated in batter, then rolled in almond slivers and deep-fried, and served with the lemon-glaze sauce. I am sharing a recipe of Lemon Chicken with an Indian Flavor made with spices and ingredients commonly available in all kitchens.

Ingredient

500 Gm boneless  Chicken
1 Mid sized bowl chopped onion
1 Mid sized bowl chopped tomato
1 Lemon cut in small pieces
2 Table spoon lemon juice
1 Table spoon pepper lemon powder
1 Table spoon salt
1 Tea spoon turmeric powder
2 Green chili chopped
1 Table spoon chopped ginger garlic
1 Tea spoon ginger garlic paste
1 Tea spoon cumin powder
1 Tea spoon red chili powder
1 Tea spoon garam masala powder
1 Small bowl curd
1 Small cup milk
1 Small bowl cream
1 Table spoon chicken masala
2 Table spoon chopped mint and coriander leaf
1 Table spoon mustard oil

Method

Marinate chicken with 1 tea spoon turmeric powder, 1 tea spoon salt, 1 red chili powder, lemon juice mustard oil and ginger garlic paste and leave for 30 min.

Now heat cooking oil in open pan, add chopped green chili and chopped ginger and garlic,

Add marinated chicken and lemon pieces, stir for 5 to 7 min with chopped green chili and ginger & garlic.

Add chopped onion and chopped tomato to the chicken and mix well.


Add all dry masala  like turmeric powder, Salt, Cumin powder, garam masala powder and chicken masala, red chili powder and mix well and again stir for 5 min, Keep on low flame.


Add curd, cream, lemon juice and chopped mint and coriander leaves and mix well.

Keep on low flame and cover with lid .

Once chicken is cooked properly, add 1/2 cup milk and lemon pepper powder mix well keep on low flame for again 5 min.

Now you can serve lemon chicken with white rice.
